Registered Physiotherapists

Chris Henderson

Chris Henderson

Chris is a registered physiotherapist and is a member of the Orthopaedic division of the Canadian Physiotherapy Association (CPA). He graduated from The University of Sydney in Australia where he received his Masters degree in Physiotherapy. Prior to his physiotherapy education, Chris received his Bachelor of Kinesiology (Honours) Degree from Brock University.

Experienced in working with a wide spectrum of clients with varying musculoskeletal, orthopaedic and neurological injuries and conditions, Chris is involved in ongoing education and professional development. In 2016, Chris completed the Advanced Orthopaedic Manual and Manipulative Physiotherapy Diploma Program from the CPA and is a fellow of the Canadian Academy of Manipulative Therapists (FCAMPT).

Sabrina Ait-Ouali

Sabrina Ait-Ouali

Sabrina is a Registered Physiotherapist who received a Masters of Science in Physical Therapy from the University of Toronto. Prior to this, she graduated from the University of Ottawa with a Bachelors of Science in Human Kinetics. She speaks English and French fluently.

Throughout her career, Sabrina has developed a keen interest in a variety of rehabilitative therapies. She has obtained certification in Advanced Manual and Manipulative Therapy Level 1, Selective Functional Movement Assessment, McKenzie Method of Mechanical Diagnosis & Therapy Part A, Acupuncture, and Soft Tissue Release. Additionally, she is a certified Pelvic Health Physiotherapist. She looks forward to developing her expertise in Advanced Manual and Manipulative therapy, Acupuncture and Dry Needling, and Pelvic Health therapies.

Sabrina is passionate about treating acute and chronic orthopedic conditions through individualized and holistic care. She believes in incorporating manual therapy, acupuncture, targeted exercises, and patient-centered education to guide individuals towards their goals and states of optimal well-being.

In her free time, Sabrina enjoys an active lifestyle, which includes biking and rock climbing. She also has a love for traveling.

Kieri Lavoie

Kieri Lavoie

Kieri graduated with a Master’s of Science in Physical Therapy from the University of Toronto. She also holds a Bachelor of Science in Human Kinetics from the University of British Columbia.

Kieri values an individualized, evidence-based treatment approach which emphasizes hands-on techniques, education and exercise prescription in order to help patients maximize their function and reach their goals. As an athlete involved in national and varsity level soccer and other recreational sports, she has also gained a passion for preventative rehabilitation which helps people maintain a healthier lifestyle and remain pain-free while engaged in activities they love.

She is committed to post-graduate education and has completed the Orthopaedic Level 1 Certification in Manual Therapy. She is also certified in Soft Tissue Release, and has completed the Contemporary Medical Acupuncture program at McMaster University. She is interested in completing her manual therapy training, neurokinetic therapy certification and pursuing pet rehabilitation. 

Rose Wilson

Rose is a Registered Physiotherapist who completed her Masters of Science in Physical Therapy at the University of Toronto after graduating with a Bachelors of Applied Science in Kinesiology at the University of Guelph-Humber.

Through her clinical experience, Rose has had the opportunity to treat a variety of musculoskeletal and neurological conditions. Rose utilizes a treatment approach that combines manual therapy, therapeutic exercise, acupuncture/modalities and education to help clients recover from injury and meet their goals.

Rose is passionate about continued education and has completed courses in Acupuncture, Soft Tissue Release, Basic and K-Taping and has obtained Level 2 Certification in Manual Therapy from the Orthopaedic Division of the Canadian Physiotherapy Association.

Outside of the clinic, Rose enjoys going to the gym, exploring the city, making cupcakes for staff & patients and watching mindless reality TV with a glass of wine.

Melanie Cundari

Melanie Cundari

Melanie graduated with a Masters of Science in Physical Therapy from the University of Toronto. Prior to this she studied at Brock University and attained a Bachelor of Kinesiology. Melanie is a strong believer of regular movement and mindfulness for one’s physical and mental health.

Melanie enjoys working with a variety of conditions and individuals. She has keen interests in working with athletes of all levels. She has a specific interest in: golfers, volleyball/basketball athletes and runners. Within the next year she will be taking courses in golf and running mechanics/injuries. Melanie has worked as personal trainer and Pilates instructor for 4 years focusing on chronic injuries, athlete development and mental health.

Melanie will be will be completing the Contemporary Medical Acupuncture program at McMaster University this spring and will be offering this as a service as of May 2019.

Outside of the clinic, Melanie enjoys spending her time outside, travelling, hanging out in cafes and working out.

Kevin Wood

Kevin completed his Master of Physical Therapy training at the University of Toronto in August of 2018. Kevin is a passionate and enthusiastic health care provider who is motivated to provide evidence-based, comprehensive therapy utilizing both manual and exercise-based techniques to accelerate healing and promote well-being in addition to client education to promote independence throughout the rehabilitative process. Kevin’s treatment programs are tailored to client-specific limitations and restrictions informed by an analytical approach to assessment.

Prior to starting at Physio First, Kevin completed his undergraduate training in Health Sciences at the University of Western Ontario followed by a Master of Science in Measurement and Methods in the School of Rehabilitation Studies at Western. Kevin has spent over four years in the field of research in nursing and medicine before transitioning to a clinical role administering rehabilitative therapy at Physio First. Kevin is dedicated to providing impactful treatment programs in a one-to-one setting with his clients at Physio First. Kevin’s interests include cycling, hockey, running, weightlifting, rock climbing, and dieting.

Erin Albaum

Erin received her Master of Science in Physical Therapy from the University of Toronto after completing her Bachelor of Science degree in Human Kinetics at the University of Guelph. Throughout her education, she was actively involved at both school and in the community and was named Valedictorian of her graduating class at the University of Toronto.

Erin is passionate about orthopaedic physiotherapy and is a strong believer in life-long learning. She has currently completed courses in soft tissue release and plans to advance her manual therapy skills through the Orthopaedic Division’s manual therapy levels system. She is also interested in learning acupuncture and myofascial release techniques. Her treatment approach emphasizes manual therapy, education and home exercise, allowing clients to take an active role in achieving their goals and returning to normal activities without pain.

In her spare time, Erin plays a variety of sports including volleyball and baseball. She also enjoys staying active in the gym and spending time outdoors with family and friends. She is a firm believer in living a balanced and active lifestyle.

Chi Hai Nguyen

Chi Hai is a passionate Physiotherapist who graduated from the University of Toronto with a Honors Bachelor of Science and a Masters in Physical Therapy. Chi Hai enjoys working with a wide variety of patients and conditions. He has a special interest in sport related injuries and has worked with many athletes including weekend warriors, cross fitters, power lifters, marathon runners and NBA players.

His approach to treatment involves a thorough musculoskeletal assessment taking into account the patient’s health history and goals to develop an individualized plan of care. He enjoys getting to know his patients and employs manual therapy, education, and exercise prescription as he guides them through their rehabilitation. Chi Hai is a firm believer in life long learning and continually educates himself to stay up to date on the latest evidence based research. He is interested in pursuing further education in acupuncture.

Outside of the clinic, Chi Hai stays active and unwinds by going for runs, weight training, rock climbing, and watching Netflix!

Darren Carney

Darren graduated from Queen’s University with a Masters of Physical Therapy and from Brock University with a Bachelor of Physical Education Hons. Darren believes in imparting knowledge to his patients, therapeutic exercise, manual therapy, and optimization of movement. He is passionate about providing a tailored approach to optimize results and help his patients achieve their goals. Darren has training in soft tissue release, advanced manual therapy through the Orthopaedic Division, Mulligan and McKenzie techniques, pain science, strength & conditioning, taping and is currently completing his Contemporary Medical Acupuncture Certification from McMaster University. Away from Physio First, Darren enjoys travelling, sports, and spending time with his family and friends.

Karli is a Registered Massage Therapist and graduate of Sutherland-Chan School and Teaching Clinic. She is also currently studying manual osteopathy at the Canadian College of Osteopathy. Before pursuing a career as a manual therapist, Karli completed a Bachelor of Science in Kinesiology from McMaster University as well as a Master of Science from the University of Waterloo. She has worked with a variety of athletes ranging from weekend warriors, to elite youth, to NHL players; as well as, chronic stroke survivors, cancer survivors and chronic pain populations.

As a former varsity soccer athlete who has experienced a variety of injuries, Karli recognizes the importance of massage therapy and osteopathic techniques for injury prevention, rehabilitation, and the maintenance of overall health. Countless misdiagnoses of one injury in particular sparked Karli’s interest in manual therapy and ultimately led her to pursue the study of osteopathic manual practice. Manual osteopathy is a holistic approach to therapy that involves finding and treating the root cause of the problem in order to help the body help heal itself. Karli believes that the use of osteopathic techniques, when applied in the right situation, can positively influence one’s anatomy and physiology to help each individual achieve his/her goals.

Outside of work you can find Karli spending quality time with family and friends, traveling on adventurous trips and being active each day. She loves to run long distances, lift weights, and play soccer and basketball (or any sport she can get her hands on)! She is committed to living a healthy active lifestyle and also sharing it with others!

Erica Mezger

Erica is a Registered Massage Therapist who graduated from the Canadian College of Massage and Hydrotherapy last century.  With over two decades of experience in massage therapy Erica has taken the opportunity to work in a wide variety of settings which have allowed her to learn how to meet the treatment needs of all kinds of clients including infants, the elderly, mobility challenged, pregnant women, professional athletes and horses.  Additional training includes specialties in elder-care, pre & post natal massage, infant massage, hot stone massage and equine massage.

Prior to entering the world of massage therapy, Erica served in the Canadian Armed Forces as an army medic.  She pulls on her medical training to better understand conditions and find better treatment solutions for any unusual injuries that come her way.

Outside of the clinic:  Erica is a devoted mom to three amazing children who regularly like to test her skills at decorating bizarrely themed cakes and birthday parties.  Occasionally they give her time off to go geocaching, skiing and camping.

Carolina Acosta graduated from the Physiotherapy Assistant (PTA) program at CDI College in Toronto. Carolina has over 10 years of experience working with a variety of patient populations in the rehabilitation setting.

Carolina is a valuable employee who implements care and treatments in a dedicated and honest manner, helping patients get the most of out of the rehabilitation process. Some of her treatments include patient-specific therapeutic exercises, Neuromuscular Electrical stimulation, Therapeutic Ultrasound and other modalities.


Carolina has taken several continuing education courses, including Bobath/NDT method, the Functional Movement System (FMS) and exercise for the older adult. She has certificates in Pilates mat work and CPR training. Carolina continues to add to her knowledge base by attending seminars and courses related to rehabilitation exercises.

In Carolina’s spare time, she likes to maintain an active life style participating in tennis, yoga classes and biking.
